Fewo-Vermieter weiter Opfer von Bewertungserpressung

We had a winter renter that left our place a dirty mess and ruined all our towels & linens. We kept $100 of the $500 security deposit and they posted a horrid review of our place. We normally don't even charge a security deposit, but this was a winter-long renter. All of our other reviews were very good, but VRBO put this one right on top and told us to call other renters to post good reviews to cover it up, which I refused to do. The renter was just retaliating against us for the $100. This amount didn't come close to replacing our towels & linens. We ended up returning the $100 dollars. It was horrible. It makes it so the owner can't be compensated for any damages in fear of bad reviews. After much haggling with VRBO, the review was removed because I was able to prove the renter was not being truthful..what a hassle...it wasn't worth it. We'll just have to absorb all damages from now on.
